What an fantastic way to wrap up the 2011 wedding season!! Debbie & Matt’s wedding was just fantastic!! From the day beginning at the Sofitel Hotel in downtown Chicago, to a super fun time of offsite pictures around Chicago with their great wedding party, to a intimate and sweet ceremony, to a knock-your-socks-off party and super fun(and beautifully stylish) reception…it just was ALL THAT and MORE!! I knew from the first time that I talked with Debbie that not only was she going to be super easy, soo nice and just wonderful to work with, but she was that perfect combo of easy going and fun, yet organized and very ontop of things! I love that combo! Debbie also has great style and to top it off, is gorgeous TOO!! Onto Matt, he is soo sweet and relaxed, fun and spontaneous! From looking at Debbie like he could just see right into her heart, from busting out a dance and a rap on the bus, to serenading her while playing the piano before cocktail hour, to dancing the night away on the dance floor…he’s a pretty cool cat! He and Debbie are an awesome fit! They were surrounded by soo many great friends and wonderful family…you could feel the love around these two!! I absolutely loved getting to be a part of this wedding…and as the night came to an end and Debbie and Matt were whisked away into the night in downtown Chicago on their horse and carriage….Erika and I left for our hotel and both, almost in sync, said, WOW, THAT was a GREAT wedding!! And it was!!! Debbie and Matt…you two are both SOO cool. and nice..and easy going…and fun…and not to mention gorgeous together! Thank you for entrusting your wedding to me! I wish you both a lifetime of bliss…and babies! XO!!

I have been looking forward to Jenny and Michael’s wedding for a while!! They are two people within a wonderful group of friends who I’ve been soo privledged to work with…a group of super fun, fantastic people!! The minute I met with Jenny, I just knew this wedding was, in fact, going to be SOO FUN…and really beautiful!! Jenny and Michael are such laid back, happy, life loving people and it’s really soo evident in the way they approach everything! You will see it soo clearly in their images and in the joy that they exuded throughout their entire wedding day! Jenny had, in my opinion, the perfect approach to her wedding planning…very organized and involved, yet not ever loosing site of the joy and the love that was at the center of it all, while having a fantastic eye for style and beauty…and being flexible enough to always make sure there was time and space for FUN!! They also trusted me completely and I value that soo much. The minute they got in front of the camera, they were SUCH naturals!! I was soo impressed! And as I said, they just enjoyed every moment….as did their wedding party and family!! It was such fun to capture this day with such real, genuine joy!! It was a fantastic wedding from beginning to end and I LOVED getting to be a part of it!! Jenny and Michael…thank you soo much for entrusting me with your wedding photography. You are wonderful people to the core and I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed your day! I wish you a lifetime of bliss and lots of laughs!!

My heart also goes out to you with the recent loss of your friend and groomsmen, Jobe. His spirit was evident in the images (included below) and his was clearly a life loss too young. You all have a group of friends that is not easy to come by in this day and age…and I commend you for cherishing it as you do. He was obviously a special, vibrant, fun loving person and I’m truly sorry to you for your loss.

There is just something about Indian weddings! I can’t put my finger on it really, I think that is because it’s a collection of soo many great things! Wonderfully kind people, overflowing joy, friends and family reuniting…all elements of most weddings, but then you add vibrant color in every direction, meaningful ceremonial elements all day and a spirit of sacredness and rich cultural heritage…and it just makes something that’s soo special!! It’s the reason why I LOVE Indian weddings! Amrita & Chris’ wedding was all of that and then some!! It was truly fantastic and I felt soo honored to be a part of it!! Amrita & Chris…I wish you a lifetime of love and joy!!! Thank you for including me in your wonderful wedding weekend!!

Indian weddings remind me what it’s like to shoot before the sun is up!

Kudos to Amrita & Chris for enduring the 30 degree temps at 8am for their pictures on the circle! It was officially the earliest I’ve ever had scheduled bride and groom pictures in my career…but when we planned it, I didn’t exactly think out the fact that the sun would barely be up and so it would still be dark…and that it would be FREEZING! Amrita & Chris were troopers!!

Ashley & Jeff had a fantastic fall wedding! They were soo fortunate to have a perfect fall day, cool, crisp air, blue sky and sunshine! When I heard Ashley’s vision for a vintage inspired barn wedding in the fall, I was soo excited!! It came together SOO well….with tons of great details, meaningful touches, great style, the perfect amount of rusticness and vintage flair…in an incredible barn, within an overall gorgeous setting! Ashley & Jeff were also soo easy going and relaxed…I was super impressed! They were just going with the flow, enjoying the day, taking it all in! It can be hard to do that on your wedding day…but it really does help you take the day in if you are able to just relax and enjoy it…and Ashley & Jeff did JUST that!! While the overall theme was more vintage…we decided to mix it up and get funky by stopping at a graffiti wall for some fun wedding party shots! And what a fun wedding party they had!! It was crazy and fun…just the way I like it! As the sun was setting, I went outside to take a few images of the barn at sunset and as the warm light of the candle & twinkle lit reception inside poored out of the barn doors, with the music playing and everyone dancing and having a great time inside…I couldn’t help but think that it just doesn’t get much better than this on a fall evening!! Ashley & Jeff…you are both great and I loved getting to share your wedding with you! I’m soo glad that it was soo perfect!! I wish you days just like that (with the wedding part! ha!)…for the rest of your life!

This has been a highly anticipated wedding for me!! There are soo many reasons….I knew it was going to be a spectacular wedding from the minute I met with Allison and heard about it, also because I fell in love with Allison & Tim and their family right away and I was soo excited to be able to share this day with them, because they had a fantastic vendor team of great friends of mine, because it was my first wedding at the JW Marriott in Indy since it’s opening…the list goes on for why I couldn’t wait for this wedding!! It was all that I hoped it would be and SOO SOOO MUCH more!! Allison and Tim are such completely awesome people….I clicked with them right away and I hope we will be friends for a long time! They are just natural, easy people to love….and they adore each other in such a sweet, thoughtful way. They were surrounded by wonderful friends and family on their day, they were blessed with an incredible, 85 degree day in October with the bluest sky and warm sun, they were perfectly nervous and happy, excited and full of joy, embracing the day fully and having such a fantastic time! They planned one incredible wedding, as well…with an awesome decor plan, such attention to detail, lots of meaningful elements, all done with such love! It was soo special and such a wonderful wedding to be a part of!! Allison & Tim…you have a special place in my heart and I wish you both a lifetime of warm love and true joy!! When I got the call that Megan & Noah’s wedding was going to have an avatar theme (just in the colors/mossy/woodsy/jewel toned vibrance kind of way!) and be complete with incredible decor, rose petal cannons at their first kiss, a horse & carriage and two great venues…I knew that it was going to be a pretty awesome wedding! It didn’t disappoint! Megan & Noah are terrific….soo sweet, loving, fun, in the moment kind of people…and they truly embraced as much joy as they could on their wedding day! It was soo sweet to watch them both be soo full of anticipation in the morning…and then see each other for their first meeting and how they were just calm, soo happy and like glue with each other from then on out. They were surrounded by incredible, loving, FUN friends and family, had a flawlessly planned day, did I mention the amazing decor??, had a crazy awesome team of wedding vendors & venues, and even ended up with some great weather despite the fact that we were seeming to dodge a huge weather bullet all day…as you will see in the outdoor images below with the clouds! When I first spoke with Melissa, I realized that this was going to be a fantastic wedding…and that she and Eric were really awesome people. She was soo nice and sweet….laid back and easy to work with…the perfect kind of client. I was about to have a baby (it was a while ago! Kudos to Melissa for being ontop of things!) so she was very understanding when I couldn’t meet or get together to discuss all the normal details that I would usually do. Well, the wedding drew closer and Melissa and I scheduled a phone meeting…it was then that I realized that we just CLICKED and we sat on the phone for over 3 hours!! She is truly special, a wonderful, thoughtful, considerate, one of a kind kind of person. When I heard about Eric, his accomplishments and his heart…I realized that they were literally mean’t for each other. As Melissa was telling me about their relationship, what they’ve gone through together, how he calms her, how she loves him…I remembered EXACTLY why I love what I do SOO MUCH….because I get to witness LOVE, at it’s very best and truest form. And love is AWESOME. And getting to capture it is really great too! Melissa & Eric’s wedding was just SUCH a FANTASTIC day…..with a wonderful mix of warmth, joy, true friendships, happiness, fun, meaningful aspects, sweet families, tear jerking moments, amazing weather, a fantastic city and soo much LOVE. I was soo honored to be a part of it!! Much love to you both, Melissa & Eric!! If I could describe this wedding in one word, it would be OMG!!!! Ok, that’s technically three words when NOT an acronym, but whatever, you get it, right!?! OH MY GOSH!! What a crazy, awesome, uber fun, laugh until it hurts, don’t want it to end kind of BLAST Melody & John’s (MAGGARD!!) wedding was!! When I first met Melody…I instantly loved her sense of humor, how GORG she was and her sense of style…and I just had a feeling that that would sneak it’s way into their wedding day, and LUCKY FOR ME…it DID!! And then I met John…and he instantly showed me his custom made polka dot lined, red zippered (yes THAT zipper!) SUIT and I was pretty much sold. From there on out, the entire day was sheer joy and perfection…oh and an absolute BLAST!! A wonderful vendor & venue team made the day flow perfectly, look stylish and beautiful…and create one heck of a party!! It was truly great! Melody & John…you two are just plain COOL. And wonderfully kind, warm, fun, endearing, in love, rock some awesome style, have uber cool friends and family, are hysterical, rocked the posing for pictures, know how to have a blast, awesome, low key, easy going, did I mention FUN!? Thank you for being soo wonderful to work with, embracing the photography on your wedding day and being all together GREAT!! Your wedding was one that I will never forget. Oh what a GREAT day Kristin & Mike had!! I’ve known from first talking to Kristin that she was fantastic, soo kind and warm! She had this wedding totally together and perfectly planned…but she did it with a very fun, flexible, excited approach which really showed on the wedding day! She enjoyed every moment, had such fun….but didn’t have to worry about a thing! Oh…other than the fact that it was 100 degrees! And Mike rolled with everything soo well and equally enjoyed the day! Mike is one of those guys that you just don’t quite know how to take at first. He’s a former Marine, very serious upon initial interaction, he looks at you like he is certainly reading you…and then he cracks a bit, shows a bit of his humor, flashes his million dollar smile and after a few minutes, is cracking you up and showing you how much of a genuinely warm person he is underneath that tough exterior….especially when Kristin is in the room. He makes her laugh and practically beam with joy…and she makes him forget than anyone else is in the world…it’s like he could stare and smile at her forever. It’s perfect. Just the way love should be. They are truly soo precious together. Their wedding day was intricately planned, yet was incredibly calm and relaxing, with time to go have lunch (Erika and I joked that it’s been nearly 3 years since we ate lunch on a wedding day!!) and even take in a bit of Champaign…and every time I visit, I’m reminded of how great and charming of a town it is. We even hung out downtown for group pictures around the bar that Kristin and Mike first met at…and it was such fun that we almost forgot we were working! A fantastic party topped off the night and as I made the trip back to Indy, I couldn’t help but just keep thinking of what a GREAT day it was. Kristin and Mike…I just adore you both soo much! I wish you the kind of love that you have today, every single day for the rest of your lives. OH…and a bunch of gorgeous babies with those million dollar smiles!

I will just say it. THIS WEDDING WAS AMAZING. As in, knock your socks off, call your mom and tell her about it, crazy, awesome, cool, off the HOOK, WHAAAAT???, kind of AMAZING. Julie & Kat (john/kat/johnny/international man of mystery) are seriously two of the greatest people. Soo genuinely wonderful, kind, warm and FUN FUN FUN!!! Their day was full of wonderful family and incredible friends, unmistakable joy, impeccable style, the coolest venues…and then the party of the century, as it was coined…and LIVED UP to be!! They wanted their wedding to be a reflection of them, TONS OF FUN, not take yourself too seriously but still look pretty darn stylish and hot kind of wedding and it really was exactly that!! Julie & Kat are also DIEHARD Xavier University fans. So, what else would they do but have a Xavier themed wedding…and yes, upon initial thought, you might say, hmmmm. interesting. a college themed wedding. BUT….put Julie’s (& kat!) stylish touch to this wedding and you have yourself an incredibly stylish affair, featuring the uber hot color of navy, incredibly beautiful accents all around and with none other than the backdrop of the gorgeous Xavier campus and the beautiful downtown skyline of Cincinnati. Spectacular. Julie & Kat….I completely adore you both and can’t tell you how much fun Erika and I had being a part of your wedding! Thank you for embracing us soo wholeheartedly and being soo wonderful to work with!! xoxoxo!!

What a sweet, special, gorgeous, perfectly planned wedding Megan & Julian had! From the meetings leading up to the wedding, I knew this one would be a show stopper…and it truly was! It had a beautiful blend, though…of show stopper-ness (i know, that’s not a real word!) and intimacy! That’s a rare blend, but this wedding had it. The families were incredibly kind and sweet, loving and emotional…Megan and Julian have a rich, wonderful connection that is impossible to miss…everything was soo well thought out, with meaningful touches sprinkled through out every aspect of the day….and then there was an incredible WOW factor to the entire wedding! It also had one of the most incredible vendor teams that a wedding could have! If there would have been ONE aspect that I would have loved to have the ability to change for Megan & Julian…it would have been the unbelievable HEAT that they endured on their wedding day! At one point in the day, I saw on my phone that the heat index was 115 and the humidity was at 98%! I was lucky to get 15 total minutes of outdoor pictures for the entire day because the heat just wouldn’t allow for it to be any other way. Luckily…all worked out in the end and the day was truly wonderful!! Megan & Julian…thank you for allowing me to have a glimpse into the very special love that you two share and be a part of your amazing wedding!! It was such an honor for me!

This wedding season has been nothing short of incredible…and Mark and Melissa have played a huge part in that for me!! Within 10 minutes of our very first meeting, we just CLICKED…and I’ve genuinely loved having them as clients and friends ever since! They are truly fantastic in every way….and their wedding was exactly the same!! They were surrounded by wonderful family and friends, in great venues, had such beautiful decor and meaningful details involved! We were even fortunate enough to have their first meeting and gift exchange in the uber fabulous Conrad penthouse! I loved this day, this wedding and this couple!!! As I pulled away from the Conrad at the end of their wedding, I had the most peaceful feeling knowing that this day was just about as perfect as they get! Ok…maybe the 100 degree temps part took the perfection factor down 1 notch…but per their usual awesome-ness…Mark and Melissa were flexible, allowed me to adjust the day a bit to prevent them from being outside a ton…and things worked out soo well!! They were all such troopers!! Mark and Melissa…you are both soo dear to me and I just thank you soo much for allowing me to be a part of your wedding, trusting me completely and truly embracing this whole experience to make it the most it could be!! I have loved becoming your friend!! I hope you are having an absolute blast in Maui!! xoxo!!

The minute I met Susanah, I knew I was going to love her! She was soo sweet, super easy to get along with, gorgeous, easy going, great style, super fun….then, in walks this guy. I’m not sure he is with her because he looks like the kind of guy that you wouldn’t want to tick off, if you know what I mean…big, tough, not messing around kind of dude. Well, turns out they were together and not only do they fit….they fit like two of the most perfectly made puzzle pieces. And, it also turns out that under that tough guy persona, Ryan is one of the sweetest guys that I’ve met! Soo kind and warm, fun and silly, and all together awesome!! Their wedding was simply fantastic!! It was a beautifully modern wedding with an incredibly sweet, traditional charm. From Susanah getting ready in her childhood room at her parents home…and as I photographed her preparing for the wedding, I couldn’t help but see and love that the background was filled with images of her as a little girl, in her communion dress and playing with her sister. Then, to watch Ryan’s smile as Susanah walked down the aisle to him turn into a stream of tears down his cheek, to Susanah’s father surprising her with a completey custom made cinderella carriage, JUST for her…because he knew she always watched that movie as a child and dreamed of being that girl when she grew up. It was just like that…the whole day, all of the moments, all of the little details. Sweet, warm, intimate and soo special. Ryan and Susanah are soo wonderful as a couple. I loved that the minute Ryan was able to have a minute to embrace his bride, he couldn’t take his hands off of her…and he just smiled and loved on her…and she returned the same affection! Then the party started at the amazing Indiana Roof Ballroom!! And what a party it was! Soo much fun!! Susanah & Ryan…THANK YOU for allowing me to share in your incredible day! You are truly wonderful and I wish you a lifetime of total bliss!! (and babies! and football victories!) xoxo!!

When I said that Susanah’s Dad MADE her a custom carriage…I REALLY mean’t it! Like a full carriage that was amazing, complete with a driver and drawn by two horses, lights, air conditioning, carpet, seats, a sound system, a skylight, drinks and even the wedding monogram!! I told him that he better be ready to change out the monogram and RENT it… It was a SURPRISE for Susanah…and boy, was she surprised!!
