The next morning was the Chura ceremony, which is an event that takes place the day before an Indian Wedding and it is a sacred ritual where the bride is adorned with red and white bracelets given to her by her Uncles. That event began with a lovely morning of blessings and prayer over the family and ended with a fun event where Aanchal’s bridesmaids and friends tie sets of charms to her wrists and then she shakes the charms over each of the unmarried people and whoever has a charm fall onto them is the next to be married!  (and then has to call me! ha!) :) It was a fun and special morning!

I had the incredible opportunity to photograph an extravaganza of a event, Aanchal & Sumit’s beautiful Indian wedding. I simply adore Aanchal & Sumit, I consider them friends and so it was special, wonderful and soo meaningful to be closely intertwined to every celebration included in their wedding weekend! I always say that Indian weddings are  unlike any other celebration because such focus is put on truly cherishing each and every step of uniting two people, two families and everyone connected to them, while maintaining an unending theme of filling the marriage and the couple with rich joy, deep love, peace, happiness and a wonderful future. It’s also SOO full of color (perfect for me!!) and the kindest people! It’s just incredible…I LOVE it…and I LOVED Aanchal & Sumit’s wedding! This wedding will become 5 total blog posts, so stay tuned for me! Day 1 was the Mehendi Celebration…and Aanchal’s Mehendi was among the best I’ve ever seen! Her incredibly talented Mehendi Artist, Dimple, (who was also her makeup artist, hair stylist and Sari dresser) did a perfect job…and it was a lovely evening filled with family, friends and lots of laughter!
