could.it.be???

A good friend of mine who is a local photographer sent me an email with THIS LINK:

http://www.photographybay.com/2007/09/18/canon-5d-mark-ii-coming-november-2007/

COULD IT BE that the 5D Mark II is on the horizon??? I must admit, I have heard rumors…but I also heard that they were ONLY rumors and no proof of this SO CALLED camera had been seen anywhere!! So, the info that this site provides is MUCH more than I have seen or heard…so this is EXCITING!!! Of course, standard operating procedure for CANON calls for a new version of the 5D somewhere in 08 or 09, most likely after the 40D is off and running….so if this late 07 stuff is true, then we could have something great on our hands!! I think that the recent 5D price drop was also a little hint that the announcement about a new 5D was coming…or at least I was hoping it was!! I’ll be the first to tell you that the IMPROVED AF is a MUCH needed thing….and the 14 bit RAW and sRAW thing will be pretty cool, as well…and the dust reduction sensor will be SOOO helpful!!! The 3 inch screen, increased FPS and 16 MP won’t hurt, either!! ;) Funny, my friend GARY told me several years ago about how the world of RAW files would change….and would expand into several forms of RAW files, RAW that was more like JPEG, etc….(even though he’s ANTI raw!) now it’s unfolding before our eyes!! Here is another link discussing the news….

KEEP YOUR FINGERS CROSSED, folks!! I didn’t think that it could get ANY better than the 5D and it just looks like it might be possible!! ;)

There’s got to be a new one coming out soon, especially with the new Digic III processor… I’ve been reluctant to buy the current one because of the new processor. Tempted to buy the new 40D…

love reading your site btw,
Mary Ann

I think the rumor might just be true! My Canon rep told me to hold off on buying a 5D until this fall, because Canon has something “pretty cool” on the horizon!! Yippee!!

hey jess,
i did a little more research on this. turns out it’s a hoax. the guy responsible admitted this is done in photoshop. wishful thinking i guess….best guess is next spring before a new 5D is even hinted at…maybe we’ll both be picking one up in Vegas baby!
how rude.

awwwww…..robbie….a.k.a…stephanie tanner….you just made me SAD!!!! Although, I had a small clue that it might be a fake because I put a call into the Canon dude at Roberts after this post, to see if he had heard anything or if it was all a joke…and he said he knew NOTHING and never heard anything…so chances were that it was a hoax!!! I was still kinda hopeful, though…he said maybe he would get the call tomorrow or something and in that case, it could be legit. I’m still keepking my fingers crossed because BOTH of my 5D’s are seriously going WACKO!!!! One of them is EATING batteries like WATER and the other is eating CF cards like WATER!! (well, i guess you don’t really EAT WATER…but you get my drift!) Like….25 images to an 8 GIG card! It’s madness…but I can’t send them in until my first break from weddings in January!!

Jess, you belong to CPS right? (canon professional services). I sent my camera in on Monday and had it back in my hands on Wed. If they can’t get it back to you in three days, they send you out a loaner camera for that time period!! Sounds like you really need to get those in and fixed!
