Light. It sounds obvious, but I cannot tell you how frustrating it is when I have brides who want the ambiance or candlelight over beautiful photos. I never take it for granted when my brides have daytime weddings with gorgeous light. They are few & far between in Houston, but when I get them, it is better than Christmas!

Oh & a good piece of glass like the 50mm 1.2….

My peers! I have learned SO much from them and can’t imagine my world without them!! You can have the best equipment and the best light, but if you don’t know how to use it……………..

People!!!! (that’s my answer) I’m serious here… we can have the best glass, camera’s, lighting and post processing techniques, but when it comes down to it lets face it - without our clients, friends and network this job would be no fun. Plus we’d be working in a cube farm!!!

Here’s to the people who make our lives what they are… beautiful!

My Digital Calibration Target. I use it all day long. I am not a good enough photographer to have a perfect exposure while metering on the Grooms suit while blowing out the brides dress. Use the target first, get a perfect exposure every time. Well, most of the time. :)

My WONDERFUL WIFE!

She is the one who gives me the permission to buy photography equipment!

Without her I would still have an HP 1 Megapixel point and shoot!

Right now it’s my 50 1.8. Ya it’s a cheap lens but it’s my first fixed lens and don’t think I’ll ever go back to zoom again. :) I can’t wait to buy the 50 1.4 & 28 1.8!!! (photog on tight budget!) ;)

How about “favorite Photoshop technique” for next topic?
Your photos Rock Jessica. Did you will that contest that we voted for a month or so ago? It was for the Indy area.

Keep up the awesome work!
